Join Our Team as a Senior Planning Enforcement Officer: Lead the Charge in Upholding Community Standards!
Are you a skilled and proactive professional with a passion for planning and development? We are seeking a Senior Planning Enforcement Officer to play a pivotal role in our Planning Enforcement service. This is your opportunity to lead on a diverse range of planning enforcement cases, offering expert advice and support to the Council and our community.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage a varied caseload of planning enforcement issues, ensuring compliance with planning regulations.
- Provide guidance and support to the Planning Enforcement Assistant and respond to customer enquiries with professionalism and clarity.
- Act as the primary case officer for processing planning applications and appeals initiated through enforcement investigations.
- Conduct site inspections, collate evidence, and take appropriate action based on findings.
- Prepare detailed reports and recommend formal enforcement action where necessary.
- Represent the council at appeals or in court, presenting evidence with confidence and accuracy.

About You:
We are looking for a proactive problem-solver with a keen eye for detail and a passion for planning. You will be:
- Organised and Diplomatic: Excellent at managing a busy workload and adept at handling sensitive situations with tact and diplomacy.
- Skilled Communicator: Able to explain complex planning legislation clearly to a wide range of stakeholders.
- Independent and Collaborative: Comfortable working independently, with the ability to make informed decisions on-site, while also being a supportive team player.
- Technical Expert: Competent in interpreting and explaining plans and technical drawings. Experience in working in planning is essential, with a background in planning enforcement preferred.
Qualifications:
- Membership (or eligibility for membership) of the RTPI (Royal Town Planning Institute).
- Relevant experience in planning; experience in planning enforcement is desirable.
